Morodok Techo National Stadium Finally Inaugurated

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen together with Chinese Ambassador Wang Wentian led the inauguration ceremony of the Morodok Techo National Stadium on Saturday. The official inauguration comes four months after it was completed.

In his speech, Prime Minister Hun Sen says that the stadium is another historic building for Cambodia and a landmark for Cambodian-Chinese relations.The Morodok Techo National Stadium is the largest of the building in the Techo Heritage National Stadium in Sangkat Prek Ta Sek, Khan Chroy Changva, Phnom Penh. He has expressed his deep gratitude to the Chinese government and people for providing substantial grants to Cambodia.

 The Prime Minister has also thanked His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni for starting to build relations with China and leaving a legacy of relations between the two countries for future generations. He hopes there will be no more pressure due to the close relationship between Cambodia and China

 Prime Minister Hun Sen has delivered a message through the Chinese Ambassador Wang Wentian to thank the Chinese government and people for their generous efforts to provide assistance to Cambodia. The Prime Minister has recommended five points to launch the national campaign to promote the SEA Game & Asean PARA Game which Cambodia will host in 2023

In addition, the Prime Minister has urged people to continue the vaccination of Cambodian citizens, especially the elderly and children. He said, Covid-19 is not over yet, but we can not shut it down forever. The Prime Minister has emphasized that the situation of the Covid-19 in ASEAN has decreased significantly and asked the people not to panic with the new variant

The construction site of the stadium was inaugurated under the presidency of the Prime Minister on April 4, 2017. The stadium received about $160 million in construction grants from the Chinese government.

 The stadium is built on an area of 16.22 hectares, with a construction area of about 8.24 thousand square meters, is a large stadium that can accommodate up to 60,000 spectators and is capable of hosting national and international sports events. lt will be an important stadium to welcome the SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games in Cambodia in 2023.
